Accept What You Cannot Change
When we are waiting on God’s timing, it can be easy to become frustrated or impatient. But the truth is, many things in life are simply out of our control. Instead of focusing on what we can’t change, we must focus on our attitude. We need to be patient, trusting, and full of faith, even when things aren’t going according to our plan. This attitude will not only bring us peace and joy, but it will also help us move forward and grow closer to God.
Your attitude in the wilderness determines the length of time you are in the wilderness.
Joyce Meyer
As Joyce Meyer said, our attitude in the wilderness determines the length of time we are in the wilderness. In other words, if we choose to have a negative or impatient attitude while we wait, we will only prolong our waiting season. But if we choose to have a positive and faith-filled attitude, we will be able to find joy and peace, even waiting.
So, when you find yourself waiting on God’s timing, take a moment to assess your attitude. Are you choosing to be patient and full of faith, or are you allowing frustration and impatience to take over? Remember, you can’t control everything, but you can control your attitude. And when you choose joy and faith, even in the waiting, you can find true joy and fulfillment.
Give Control to God
We forget that we are not God when we try to control everything. We need to remember that He is in control of all things and that His plan is always better than ours. When we give up control and trust in God, we allow Him to work in our lives in ways that we cannot even imagine.
But giving up control is not always easy, especially for those of us who like to be in charge. It requires a daily, sometimes hourly, releasing of control. We must remind ourselves that God is with us and will never leave us or forsake us. We can find comfort in Deuteronomy 31:8, which says, “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Deuteronomy 31:8
To give control to God, we must first get to know Him. We must pray, read our Bible, and study God’s word. The more we learn about Him, the more we will trust Him. When we trust God, we can confidently release control to Him, knowing that He has our best interests at heart.
When we are waiting on God’s timing, it can be hard to let go of control. We may be tempted to take matters into our own hands and try to force our own agenda. But when we do that, we are telling God that we don’t trust Him. We need to remember that His timing is perfect and that His plan is always better than ours.
Develop a Heavenly Perspective
What is happening now doesn’t matter when your eyes are on heaven. This doesn’t mean you ignore your responsibilities and problems in the present, but rather that you trust in God’s plan for your life and have faith that He will guide you through any challenges that come your way. Developing a heavenly perspective also involves focusing on eternal rather than temporal values. Material possessions, status, and power may bring temporary satisfaction, but they will ultimately fade away.
On the other hand, cultivating virtues such as love, kindness, and patience will have an enduring impact on yourself and those around you. Finally, having a heavenly perspective involves aligning your will with God’s. This means surrendering your desires and ambitions to Him and trusting He will provide what is best for you.
As Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” When you have a heavenly perspective, you can find joy in the present and trust in God’s timing for the future.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33
Focus on What God Wants From You Today
Don’t waste this season of waiting by being consumed with anxiety and worry. Instead, ask God to reveal what he wants you to focus on right now. Maybe it’s spending more time in prayer or serving in your community. Whatever it is, trust that God has a purpose for you in this moment.
Remember, God’s timing is perfect. We may not understand why we are in a season of waiting, but God sees the bigger picture. He knows what’s best for us, and his plans are always good. Instead of being consumed with frustration and impatience, focus on the present moment and what God is calling you to do today.
